چکیده

This paper is concerned with the flexibility in the closed loop pole location when solving the H2 optimal control problem (also called the H2 optimal disturbance attenuation prob lem) by proper measurement feedback. It is shown that there exists a precise and unique set of poles which is present in the closed loop system obtained by any measurement feedback solution of the H2 optimal control problem. These "H2 optimal fixed poles" are character ized in geometric as well as structural terms. A procedure to design Hi optimal controllers which simultaneously freely assign all the remaining poles, is also provided.

H2 optimal controllers with measurement feedback for continuous-time systems - Flexibility in closed-loop pole placement

For a general H 2 optimal control problem, at rst all H 2 optimal measurement feedback controllers are characterized and parameterized, and then attention is focused on controllers with observer based architecture. Both full order as well as reduced order observer based H 2 optimal controllers are characterized and parameterized. Also, systematic methods of designing them are presented. An impo...

Achievable input performance of linear systems under feedback control

In this paper, we characterize the achievable input performance for linear time invariant systems under feedback control. We provide analytical expressions for minimal input requirement for stabilization in both of the H2 and H1 optimal control frameworks. The achievable input performance primarily depends on the joint controllability and observability of unstable poles. These results are also ...

Fixed Poles for Non Minimal Systems: a Geometric Approach

When considering the set of all possible solutions, e.g. by state or measurement feedback, of a given control problem (e.g. disturbance decoupling), complete pole placement is usually not possible, due to the so-called fixed poles: these are present as dynamics of the compensated system, whatever be the way the solution has been designed (within the chosen class). These fixed poles have two dif...

"2/H∞ based sliding mode control: A partial eigenstructure assignment method

This paper is devoted to the problem of designing a sliding surface for an underlying system, while H2/H∞ performance specifications of the closed-loop system are under control. This scheme is different from a large number of the existing methods in the literature for the sliding surface design, in the sense that it will penalize the required level of control effort to maintain sliding. This no...

Characterization of discrete-time H2 control performance limitation based on poles and zeros

In this paper, we show that the best achievable performance in the H2 regulation/tracking problem for discretetime SISO systems can be expressed in a remarkably simple form by the poles/zeros of the plants and the poles of the closedloop systems. We also explain that the poles of the closedloop systems can be related with system parameters by an algebraic approach. Furthermore, corresponding ex...
